Sojourn Chaplaincy is able to provide spiritual care and emotional support to some of the most marginalized residents of San Francisco because of the generous support of people like you. We rely on our donors to keep the doors open. Please donate today! Click here to offer a gift to support the sacred work of our chaplains here at the General.
Volunteer
Sojourn continually seeks to build and support a volunteer community described by diversity of faith, gender, race, culture, and sexual orientation. We welcome those who are interested in providing hospital chaplaincy to contact us for further information about our volunteer programs.
We train individuals from all Bay Area communities called to chaplaincy work or other outreach ministry, whether they wish to work at SFGH or another health care institution or pastoral care setting. Sojourn also provides programs of training for seminary and university students. Our training program is currently on pause and we are hoping to relaunch the program in 2024
We provide continuing education and learning opportunities for our volunteer chaplains on a variety of topics pertinent to their work with Sojourn. Our department also works with faith based and community based organizations to build relationships and offer support for our patients inside and outside of the hospital. Community members have offered worship services, healing rituals, and community events here at the hospital. Contact our spiritual care department to learn more about how to volunteer with Sojourn Chaplaincy. We are currently not taking new volunteers until 2024
