Dia De Los Muertos

Join Sojourn Chaplaincy and the SF General Hospital for an ofrenda and ritual celebration of Día de los Muertos. Through an altar and bilingual ceremony we will honor those who have died.
Every year between October 31 and November 2, residents of the SF Mission District gather to honor the dead through a neighborhood celebration of the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos. For several years, Sojourn Chaplaincy at Zuckerberg San Francisco General has joined in this celebration.
This year we will build an interactive ofrenda – an altar to honor the dead. The altar will be available from 7am-3pm. At noon, we will gather for a multi-faith bilingual ritual to honor the dead.
Attendees will be invited to memorialize their dead through sharing of stories, sacred activities and ceremony. The service will have elements in both Spanish and English, and monolingual speakers of either language are welcome. This offering is for healthcare providers, caregivers, and community members to honor those they have cared for and loved.
Sojourn Chaplaincy at the San Francisco General Hospital is located in the heart of the Mission District. Attendees may be interested in joining in the neighborhood celebration in nearby Garfield Park, where there will be altars and a Día de los Muertos procession later in the day.

De acuerdo a la tradición Mexicana del Día de Los Muertos, entre Octubre 31 y Noviembre 2 los residentes del distrito de la Misión en la Ciudad de San Francisco se reúnen para honrar a los difuntos.
Por varios años, la Capellanía Sojourn, del Hospital General, ha sido parte de la celebración. En Noviembre 2, el público está invitado a visitar el altar entre las 7 de la mañana y 3 de la tarde. A las doce del día tendremos una ceremonia bilingüe, en Español e Inglés, e invitaremos a los participantes a que compartan historias, poemas, oraciones y bendiciones para conmemorar a sus seres queridos que han fallecido. El lenguaje y las culturas de todos los paÍses Latinoamericanos son bienvenidos.
A las 7 de la noche, las celebraciones continuarán en el parque Garfield, con procesión a altares y santuarios en calles y callejones de la Misión. Los esperamos en la capilla del Hospital General, segundo piso, cerca de la cafeterÍa el día 2 de Noviembre. Acompañenos!
