Spiritual Care for Jehovah’s Witness Patients
March 24 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Many people who are a part of the Jehovah’s Witness tradition have unique needs during hospitalization. Join us for a special presentation from Minister Mata Carlos-Valentino. of the Hospital Liaison Committee** for Jehovah’s Witnesses to learn more about these unique needs, some of the challenges members of these communities encounter when they access healthcare settings. Minister Carlos-Valentino will also offer training on how Chaplains can support and advocate for and with Witness patients as they access healthcare settings.
**Worldwide, Jehovah’s Witnesses have some 1,700 Hospital Liaison Committees forming an international network operating in over 110 countries. They are made up of community-based ministers who knowledgeably interact with physicians and hospital personnel, social workers, and members of the judiciary. Their work is complimented by the Patient Visitation Group who visit and encourage patients and their families while receiving medical care.
