Holding the Edge
March 10 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm$35
Sojourn Chaplaincy invites you to join us for “Holding the Edge,” written and performed by Elaine Magree. Elaine has generously offered to donate 1/2 of the box office revenue to Sojourn Chaplaincy.
This solo show takes audiences to January 28, 1985 to join Elaine, a hospice nurse and cub scout mom. She finds herself in the chaotic socio-political center of the AIDS epidemic on the day of the challenger explosion, confronting the relative value of lives. What does an irreverent and outraged lesbian, who also happens to be in the midst of early sobriety do? Determined to keep holding the edge, Elaine starts a riot.
Sojourn Chaplaincy was born as a response to the AIDS epidemic in San Francisco, and we are grateful to Elaine for partnering with us. We honor the history of those who have lived through the epidemic as we continue to serve those who are affected by HIV/AIDS.
Tickets: $20 – $35 sliding scale | $55 and $100 Reserved Seating Please give generously as 1/2 of the box office will go to supporting Sojourn Chaplaincy.
Friday March 10th at 8pm
Tickets can be purchased online or by phone at 415.282.3055 between the hours of 1pm-4pm, Monday through Friday.
“These laughs in “Holding the Edge” don’t just balance tears; they also amount to their own nugget of wisdom: In the face of senseless tragedy, it’s our duty not just to help our fellow humans, but also to live our own lives with irreverence and joy.”

“The story telling is deceptively simple cuz it’s a ritual and a live performance and fiction and a protest all at once. The weaving of life and death is done as a magic spell that implicates the audience and we all change together. Something happens.” Keith Hennessy
